We have a 2f-140 gripper that we can't connect to. I have tried using the ROS node, the UR5e teach pendant and the Robotiq User Interface. All fail and don't give a clear answer why.
ROS results in this error: AttributeError: 'ModbusIOException' object has no attribute 'getRegister'
Usually the light is red, except when connected to the ur5e, then it is changing between blue and red.

Hope you can help me further!

If you are using a IO coupling the ROS won t work.

 The ROS package is for serial coupling. The communication is done via modbus RTU and the gripper should be directly connected on the ROS PC.

I'm not using the IO coupling, I'm using the connector plate with pigtail (we also used the gripper with an ABB arm). 
In the Robotiq User Interface, it is detected as a IO coupling however.

It is strange that it is detected as io coupling. You can contact support@robotiq.com if you need trouble shooting.
