FT300 is a great product, thank you for this!

'It enables the FT 300 to feed data into Universal Robots Force mode (Available with Universal Robots CB3.1 controller only).'  

I am using UR5/CB3.1 + FT300 + ROS. 
If I upgrade my control board to CB3.1, does that mean I can simply forward the UR script 'force_mode()'  with to the robot using ROS, and that 'force_mode()' will be  using data from FT300? 

Or, does that mean it can only be done within a URCap that leverages the RTDE interface?
