The Robotiq team spent the last few months working on a first robot monitoring system. Insights is a web application that monitors Universal Robots performance. It gives a real-time view of the robot’s key performance indicators in operation.

With this data, manufacturing engineers will be able to improve their product quality and increase process efficiency. Automation engineers will take advantage of this information to optimize robot performance by reducing cycle time and diagnosing failures.

Production managers will see the long term trends in robot performance to improve planning and overall productivity. Insights’ dashboard also provides operators with real-time status and alerts to optimize production. 



Insights features

  • Monitors robot in real-time

  • Measures robot performance over time, from minutes to years

  • Gives access to your robot data anytime, anywhere

  • Provides cell level diagnostics with fault reports and alerts, Digital IO state visibility and external sensor readout

  • Gives Operational KPIs: Cycles Completed, Utilization, Efficiency, Wait-time, Disconnected time

  • Sends periodic email performance reports to subscribers

  • Sends alerts via SMS on exceptions or when the robot needs attention

         

Insights consist of:

  • Hardware

    • Insights Edge Gateway

    • Hardware kit to integrate on any UR robot (Power cable, Ethernet cable, USB cable)

  • Software

  • Compatibility: Universal Robots UR3, UR5 & UR10 with controller CB3.1 or higher only

    • Product only available for UR in North America and Europe

    Can you elaborate more about Inside Edge Gateway?
    Do i need to buy in order to pair connection between UR Robot and Insights Web Application?

    The Edge Gateway is required to connect Insights URCap running on UR robot with the cloud service and Insights web app. Buying it depends on timing because as part of the product launch we offer it free for the next three months. In fact, you can ask for one right from the web app when you add your robot.

    Hi @Julian,

    thats very strange since I successfully tested Insights without Edge gateway by only installing Insights URcaps on robot.

    @robertg that will work as of today you are right, but you got no protection from any internet threats and Robotiq will not give you any guarantee or support on the installation / usage / security of the product. If you need to know which ports to open, details are in the manual.
