@Annick_Mottard In a certain vision application I need external lighting in order to achieve a good image. How can I turn off or reduce intensity of the LEDs integrated to the Robotiq wrist camera?
@Sebastien The intensity of the two LEDs on the Camera cannot be modified. You may have noticed that if you go in Troubleshoot camera, you are able to modify it, but those settings are not kept during runtime.
@Annick_Mottard Do you plans on having user being able to control the LED in the next software release? It would be nice because depending on the background material sometimes they create a shinny spot in the middle of the FOV.
@Sebastien it is not planned for future releases. For the upcoming release, the LED intensity will be modified when the Camera is mounted on a UR3. The Camera stays closer to the work plane when used over a UR3. This will prevent the Camera from having high light intensity spots in its field of view.
@Annick_Mottard We have recently tested an application on UR5 where we needed to have a snap position that was closer to the workplace. So light was a bit too bright I believe.
@Sebastien In that upcoming release, the Camera will also adjust the LED intensity according to the Snapshot position. This means as you get closer to the work plane, the LED intensity will decrease.
@Annick_Mottard Thanks for the update. But the light intensity I believe would also depend on the environment lighting. So having a slider next to the threshold adjustment would make sense. We could easily test snap the part and adjust lighting and threshold limit live. So this way we could easily optimize lighting to increase score % and therefore increasing threshold limit! What do you think @JeanPhilippe_Jobin
@Annick_Mottard I was searching how to switch of the LED´s to read this is not good for me. We have extream shining parts in a black tray so with the LED´s there is only a view like to look int a lamp possible . We covered the LED´s for Testing and the Result was perfect all details could be stable found. If no possibility to switch of the LED´s is there any Issue to cover them permanently ?
@ThomasE like you said there is no possibility to control the LED intensity, you could cover it's not an issue. You will need to uncover them if you do calibration or object teaching.Remember that if you want to locate highly reflective parts, you will need a good control on the ambient lights, the camera LED are probably not the only source of reflections.
Good to hear that the LED´s can be covered long therm , calibration i do with the light , object teaching I had to cover them already to get a clear picture. For the Moment I still working on a Test area to get the camera and the robot working with that parts , finaly we think already about a chamber wer we can control the light (and hold it stable) in the working area as much as possible.
@Etienne_Samson after a few not so bad Tests i reworked my testarea, and tried to calibrate and teach all parts again. a total fail the camera could not compleatly take the part one point was realy intresting the 4 pics at the beginning of teaching in most times the first 3 are great all points inside but the last one the important point he allways missed I tried now with different snapshoot possitions more close more far , different light with / without / with external light, different backgrounds white/grey/black/yellowI tried with a powdered part ( so no shining anymore we use this powder for our laser scanners)and also i create a 2D part were I colored the important areas ( that one could totaly not be found) and i tried a other part were the positioning is much easier .all finaly fail For me it looks like round plates are not stable possible with that camera .I made a lot pictures but no idea how to upload here.So far no one has any ideas I need to find a whay without camera or i ask my vendor if there are any good cameras for the UR.but maybe you have an idea pics for better understanding I have.brThomas
@ThomasE I'm opening up a support ticket on this, you seem to have some issues with your camera. I'll send you the email, send me photo & videos of your parts and I'll test on my side.
