Hi folks!

We have one of your 3-fingered robotic hands, and we are trying to connect to it via TCP IP through your Robotiq User Interface program. We have been able to do this in the past, but for some reason, we cannot get it to work right now. We can connect to the hand and control it just fine via the USB line and your GUI. From here, we checked to make sure that the Modbus IP, Gateway, etc. was correct, and that the communications cable has proper connection as well. We are unable to ping the hand through the network from our computers, and also cannot connect to it via your GUI.

We were thinking of performing a firmware update. Any ideas on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

    Hi,
Can you provide me with your Gripper serial number ? It's located under the Gripper, S-XXX.

What does the LED show when you try connecting via USB and via Modbus TCP ?

    Thanks !

    Hi Etienne,
The number is S-110. After the hand is powered, I get a solid blue and flashing green LED. After connecting via USB, I have a solid blue and solid green. When trying to connect via Modbus TCP, I see a solid blue, and flashing green LED.
    Thanks,

    Thanks,
So everything seems normal from this. Solid green = communication OK, blinking green = network OK but not communication.
If you got no red LED and a green blinking then we can assume that your hardware is all correctly setup.

We will need to look into the software setup. When connecting with a PC, are you using fixed IP or DHCP ? The Gripper will work on a fixed IP network. Also make sure that you close other connection if you have some (wireless for example).

A colleague of mine magically got it working this morning. We had everything set up correctly, but for some reason a good connection could only be established when the hand was first connected to a router, and then to a networking switch that was connected to the same router. Everything works fine now, although when I launch the RUI, I get the message, “To access the full functionality of the RUI, please connect your device with the USB cable…”

Is it possible to disengage this mode? I’d like to have full RUI functionality through our network.

    Thanks,
