Hi Pros,
Robotiq just launched its Sanding Kit, the only available hardware and software solution for sanding applications to integrate with CB-Series and e-Series cobots from Universal Robots.
The Sanding Kit frees up human hands from tedious and potentially hazardous sanding jobs. It limits your staff’s exposure to common risks related with sanding operations, and reduces staff fatigue by relieving your staff from carrying out these operations.

In addition to a built-in path generator and to the Finishing Copilot software that make automating processes a much smoother task, the Sanding Kit can apply consistent pressure across cycles, effectively delivering premium products. You can use it on wood, plastic, metal, fiberglass, and carbon fiber.

The Robotiq Sanding Kit integrates seamlessly with Universal Robots cobots, enabling users to deploy this collaborative sanding tool rapidly, allowing you to start production faster. This brings added flexibility to business processes while keeping workers safe.

For more details about the Sanding Kit, click here. Over the coming weeks and months, this blog will explore the benefits of collaborative sanding solutions. We will compare traditional automated sanding tools to those built for cobots, and we will discuss on how to get the most out of your Sanding Kit.
More information will soon be made available about polishing, deburring and grinding. You can also join in the conversation about finishing on our forum.
Cheers,

I need to make sure that sanding kit can be integrated to both of CB-Series and e-Series. Some of ROBOTIQ's materials say it's only available for UR5e and UR10e. Which one is correct?
The Sanding kit could technically work on CB series but we don't recommend it for now. The FT300 is not sealed enough for the wood dust. Over time, the humidity with the wood dust could create some kind of mud and affect the result of the sensor which will invalidate your sanding application.
We don't recommend the UR3 since the payload available and the reach of the robot are limited.
Hope this helps.

Possible to apply on wet sanding application?
The hardware provided by Robotiq cannot be used for wet sanding. However, What is powerful in this product is the software with the "Path Generator" node. You could use any type of hardware like your own wet sander machine at the wrist of the UR Robot and you could use the software to ease your programmation.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions.
Regards.
Thanks for the info.
