Is it some kind of safety configuration? I just find it much easier to move the UR with both hands :<. Sorry for stupid question LOL XD

@ZH2112, it would be possible to install a switch on the IOs and assign it to the freedrive function. This would allow you to turn on the freedrive and move the robot with two hands. You can assign the IO function from the installation tab.

@newuser, this has been available for as long as I can remember.

1. Wire your switch into the controller 24V and DI0, for example.
2. Go to the installation menu of the Polyscope, and then under IO Setup.
3. Assign the DI0 the Freedrive action:

4. Once the switch is turned on, you should be good to go.

Would there be any significant downside to having freedrive on all the time? I've also realised I could have just connected 24v to a desired input and assign freedrive when needed.

@ZH2112, you won't be able to run any program while on freedrive if I'm not mistaken. It can be activated from within a running program using some specific functions though.

You also might want to jog the robot to a specific or more precise position at some point, this would be impossible with the freedrive on.

@ZH2112 I agree, it's easier to move the robot with both hands. This is why in Alumotion we made the YOUring: a tool to mount on the wrist3 of the UR; it allows you to move the robot with both hands, by pushing a button directly. Any updates on this project? I have a very similar need, to allow the operator to freedrive the robot during the program and then have the program continue from the same place. Thanks!
