@JSchena
Are you looking to bin pick, or pick off a belt? Pickit is designed for bin picking, and has a lot of extra sensors for the 3D aspect, while losing some precision. If you are doing something like belt picking, or picking from a nested tray, you would probably be better served, and save more money, by using a more conventional 2D vision system.
I am not saying Pickit is a bad piece of hardware by any means, just a specialized piece, and if used wrong, will likely come across as being "bad".

Hi @JSchena
Let me introduce myself, I am Bart Houben, VP of Product and Marketing at Pick-it.
In that way I have some experience with Pickit ;-)
Normally you do not need to worry to much about how your parts need to be presented because Pickit will find them in any orientation or position.
Next to that our 3D solution is totally light independent, in other words dark or light our camera and software will find your parts anyway.
I'm curious about your application and my colleagues can help you to assess this and advise you on how to solve this. To help you I would ask you to fill out this form on our website: https://www.pickit3d.com/free-demo
And as always, feel free to contact me (bart@pickit3d.com) or answer on this thread.
I was wondering if anyone had had any experience with the Pickit 3D system? We are looking into the best way to present our parts, and wanted to know if anyone had any opinions, or preference. We are looking for some insight before going into the deep end per say.
