Hi all, i'm looking for a magnetic gripper to hold a 3 inch diameter bar by 5 inches long, the same robot will have to hold some flat bar stock that is 4"X6"X3/4". Does anyone know of such a device?
I know Schunk makes these https://schunk.com/us_en/gripping-systems/category/gripping-systems/schunk-grippers/magnetic-gripper/have never looked into them though to see how heavy they are
Have you used these with round parts? I have some concern about trying to hold a round part with a flat magnet.
I have not used them at all. Just know about them. I would agree, I’d suggest calling Schunk and asking if they have v-blocks for them. I just watched a video video a couple days ago with a Kuka handling round bar using a magnetic gripper. I will see if I can find it and post a link here
I used Magswitch AR30 and similar grippers for picking up steel bar and tube material with UR 10s. http://magswitch.com.au/automation-series/You can use either the flat-end or the V-end of the supplied pole-shoes (Or make your own), so round stock was never a problem.
