Robotic grinding, polishing is a hot space. We just need a little more: (1) standardization + (2) more economic options for active force control and this application will really take off.
@cdoeksen interesting topic you got there, I vote yes, those application do generate a lot of request and they all represent challenges with big potential. I'm not sure if each one could be as big as welding, but the sum of all them definitively can in my opinion!
Dear Samson, this topic applications that I start to invest in research with Amtru(deburring & polishing) when we got the Cell Phone case polishing inquiry from Jabil Taiwan 2009 (Jabil green point- Jabil is US EMS company - revenue more than 10billion U.S.D), after more than 7 years market growth, now the China market growing quickly, especially the robotic polishing, deburring and grinding, another reason is China lack of the new manpower to join these 3D(difficult, danger and dirty) industries. And government push to improve the automation level to protect environment and healthy. Actually China and Asia still need more qualified SI to join this advanced robotics applications in the future, the market is big and huge that worth for Automation companies to come with us and bring the good results.
